ORLANDO, FLORIDA – The Taco Maker (TTM) announced today it has signed an area development agreement to develop the New York City/Manhattan metropolitan areas.

The agreement between The Taco Maker and restaurant and real estate developer, Juan Nunez, is part of an expansive strategy by The Taco Maker to grow the brand globally. At least 40 stores will open over a 10 year period in Manhattan. Of those stores, five to six will be stand-alone restaurants while the rest will be designed to complement an urban landscape setting.

“This agreement is a critical part of our expansion strategy to grow The Taco Maker into a leading worldwide franchise,” said Carlos Budet, President and CEO of The Taco Maker. “Our goal is for the millions of worldwide visitors who come to NYC to experience the truly unique taste of The Taco Maker…and ultimately take a TTM franchise back to their home town or their own nation.”

The Taco Maker, Inc. is the parent company of The Taco Maker restaurant which is currently the largest Mexican quick service restaurant in Puerto Rico and is well known for its high quality and flavorful Mexican food including tacos, burritos, nachos, quesadillas, salads and desserts. The first store in New York is slated to open within six to nine months on the upper east side of Manhattan and will be the first Taco Maker restaurant in New York.

“I can’t tell you what a thrill it is to be working with The Taco Maker to bring this incredible concept to the Big Apple,” said restaurant and real estate developer, Juan Nunez. “There’s no question, with the growth potential of TTM, we have an enormous opportunity to strategically develop the brand and capture a considerable portion of the Mexican QSR segment in New York.”

With over 40 years experience in food service operations, including cooking and kitchen management experience, Juan Nunez has developed several successful restaurants in Manhattan as well as a thriving real estate company that owns properties in New York, Florida, and the Dominican Republic. Playing key executive roles in his development company are his son Llamil Nunez, and his daughter, Gina, who oversee daily operations in his restaurants and real estate business.

“I thank Juan for being a strategic partner in bringing the incredible taste of TTM to New York,” said Budet. “It’s all about quick service in Manhattan…and if you combine that with TTM’s delicious and fresh Mexican cuisine…there’s really no way you can go wrong.”

Taco Maker is one of three concepts under the The Taco Maker, Inc. umbrella, an international franchise system with over 200 units open in the United States, Latin America, and the Far East. TTM’s other two brands include Jake’s Over The Top and Mayan Juice.

ORLANDO, FL /PRNewswire/ — The Taco Maker (TTM) reports a 21% same stores sales increase in first quarter of 2009, crediting the success to a new mobile marketing strategy that spotlights their new flagship product, “The Maker” burrito, the mouth-watering, one-pound burrito stuffed with up to three kinds of meat, beans, enchilada sauce and Monterrey Jack Cheese in a warm home-style tortilla.

“We knew in a slowing economy that our marketing approach had to be focused on value for the customer,” said Carlos Budet, President and CEO of The Taco Maker. “Our goal is to help the customer stretch their dollar while offering fresh, authentic Mexican quick-service food. That’s why we’re showcasing our new one-pound flagship burrito ‘The Maker’ through an innovative marketing approach. This allows customers to satisfy their hunger without the premium costs.”

The Taco Maker is implementing this strategy developed by BxP Marketing in Florida that allows the company to track customer trends and preferences while also interacting with customers.

“The process is pretty elaborate and detailed,” said Gary Bentz, Chief Creative Officer of BxP Marketing. “First, consumers opt-in by sending a text to our SMS platform and in return they receive an offer for a free burrito via their mobile phones. Once a customer redeems the text message offer, the software provides TTM with a report that details what radio station that customer was listening to, the daypart, and which program they were listening to that prompted the customer to respond to the offer. The trained staff at each TTM location has been key in assisting customers with the promotion and up-selling.”

TTM is targeting English and Spanish-language radio stations in central Florida for the first stage of this innovative marketing campaign. They have also introduced a Mexican-American character called Juan Maker to help with product identity that will also become the basis for the “Juan Peso Value Menu” in the campaign’s second phase. In unscripted radio spots, Juan Maker is interviewed with a major DJ personality in the Orlando area and asked to text a particular number to get the free food offers.

“We really poured all of our creative juices into this exciting product launch and developed a strategic program to introduce The Maker, generate traffic to the stores and create demand for this new flagship product,” said Bentz. “Our goal was to combine both traditional and cutting-edge media strategies to reach out to a specific demographic and motivate them to visit the stores. The results, I’m proud to say, are nothing short of spectacular.”

When asked about the importance of targeting a younger segment to expand TTM’s customer base, Budet responded, “We realize how important it is to tap into a younger tech-savvy segment of the market for growing our brand in the coming years. We’ve seen in just a few months, in fact, the impact this strategy can have on our total revenue gains. In the first quarter alone, over 2,200 customers have responded positively via their mobile phones for our free burrito promotion with an overwhelming 50% redeem ratio.”

Long known for its fresh, high-quality and flavorful Mexican food, The Taco Maker offers various QSR outlet types to meet almost every need, from traditional free-standing restaurants and mall food courts to its fast-growing programs for non-traditional locations which complement the dual branding concept with franchises such as Jake’s Over the Top and Mayan Juice. For franchise information for The Taco Maker contact http://www.tacomaker.com.

BxP Marketing is a non-traditional creative marketing agency located in South Florida. Its business model is designed to influence consumers through life and styles strategies using entertainment, music, sport, fashion and new media as a means to effectively reach a wide range of demographics. BxP creative marketing concepts bring together creative, targeted marketing strategies — both traditional and non-traditional — and measurable executions.

ORLANDO, FLORIDA– The Taco Maker announced today a total of 15 additional stores opened in 2008 and 900 more stores are in development in multiple regions of the United States and Puerto Rico as well as countries including as India, Panama, Costa Rica, Colombia, Brazil, The Dominican Republic, Russia, Spain and other European and Latin American countries. Currently The Taco Maker has over 185 units open in the United States, Latin America, and the Far East.

“Even in a slowing economy we continue to see tremendous growth because of our innovative ideas and unmatched quality in the QSR industry,” said Carlos Budet, President and CEO of The Taco Maker. “In the last 18 months, over 900 restaurants have been contracted for development in the US and international markets. We anticipate 2009 will be just as profitable…with the potential to open other markets in Latin America and Europe.”

With 25 new stores slated to open this year and hundreds more in development, The Taco Maker is experiencing a robust pipeline of commitments from franchise developers in multiple regions of the United States and Puerto Rico as well as countries including as India, Panamá, Costa Rica, Colombia, Brazil, The Dominican Republic, Russia, Spain and other European and Latin American countries.

Taco Maker is one of three concepts under The Taco Maker, Inc. umbrella, an international franchise system with over 185 units open in the United States, Latin America, and the Far East. The Taco Maker restaurant is currently the largest Mexican quick service restaurant in Puerto Rico and serves popular quick service Mexican dishes such as tacos, burritos, nachos, quesadillas, salads and desserts.

“Our strategy has always been to work with franchise developers both nationally and internationally with the greatest commitment to professionalism, quality and a vision to see the growth of the TTM brand,” said Budet. “Each year, we continue to raise our expectations even higher in terms of sales and operations because of the uniqueness of our business model and our willingness to employ a creative marketing approach.”

According to TTM, a part of this creative approach is a strategy to connect with today’s consumer while building customer loyalty in its brand. One strategic initiative is to implement the use of high profile billboards and other visually stimulating media to target a younger, tech savvy segment of its consumer base. According to sources, this segment has the purchasing potential of over 150 billion dollars a year.

Another strategy includes the launching of new innovative products to appeal to a broader range of customers. In just a few weeks, in fact, TTM plans the roll out of its new flagship product called “The Maker”—a whopping one pound burrito with almost half a pound of meat. “We feel confident that new innovative products like ‘The Maker’ are the future of our franchise in further increasing market shares in the QSR segment and igniting franchise growth worldwide,” said Budet.

Long known for its fresh, high quality and flavorful Mexican fast food, The Taco Maker offers various outlet types to meet almost every need, from traditional free-standing restaurants and mall food courts to its fast growing programs for non-traditional locations which complement the dual branding concept with franchises such as Jake’s Over the Top and Mayan Juice.
